Hi! I am Jelena

I’m Jelena Skracic, a graphic and UX/UI designer based in San Francisco Bay Area, CA. Originally from Zagreb, Croatia, I grew up in a highly artistic household with a musician father and a visual artist mother. Surrounded by siblings who were also artists and punks, I found a safe space for creative expression in the punk scene, which became a global family as I started traveling and living abroad.

Always interested in working with people, I am curious about learning more about users’ behaviors and habits and using my altruistic teaching experience in working with clients. Always prepared to react in no time, think critically, and notice small details, I am trained to come up with purposeful solutions.

After earning a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development and working as a Preschool Teacher for several years, I moved to the US to study Graphic Design at the City College of San Francisco. I completed a Mentorship Program at Google and served as a Design Intern at the Emerge Studio, all while earning my second Design Certificate. I am currently looking for full-time Product Designer opportunities.

As a photographer, I enjoy shooting live bands, capturing the essence of their expression and emotion during high-energy performances. I create graphics using both digital and analog mediums, often mixing both, and have designed multiple show flyers in the Bay Area's burgeoning punk and darkwave scene. The ability to freeze a moment in time and translate the elated feeling of the moment on stage or in the crowd drives me to further experiment and evolve my art, understanding what works best compositionally, situationally, and emotionally.

A drummer in the making and artist at heart, I find joy in documenting countercultural efforts internationally. Grateful for the punk scene as a safe space for my creative expression, I cherish my global punk family and my dog, Masha.
